ASIATIQUE The Riverfront

Previously, it was a port, a warehouse and a gateway for European empire to run a business of the international trading under the name of the Port of East Asiatic. By having this commercial area in the reign of King Rama V, Siam had to developed itself to be modernized for survival of the Kingdom.  Today, this area is being restored to its original glory name “ASIATIQUE The Riverfront” as the first and largest night-lifestyle venue located on Chao Phraya River. There are various activities that you can enjoy, such as; the large ferris wheel, the ladyboy cabaret show “Calypso”, the Thai-style puppet with Thai classical dancing,  a Muay Thai show, or just a scroll over the boulevard and enjoy the nightlife & scenic view of Chao Phraya River.

Transportation : Take Sheraton Shuttle Boat to BTS Saphan Taksin Station. Then drop-off at Sathorn Pier. Walk to the lane                                   for Asiatique Shuttle Boat Service. Wait, Get on boat then enjoy.

Historically a fish market, Pak Klong Talad is now the largest wholesale and retail flower market in Bangkok.  Open 24-hours, this market explodes with every color and variety of flower imaginable. We recommend visiting between 2am - 4am, when fresh deliveries are arriving, and as Bangkok’s retailers come to claim the very best bunches.

Transportation : Get on the Express Boat with Orange Flag at Si Pha ya Pier. Get off at Tha Tien Pier.

Opening hours: daily from 06.00 - 16.00 hr.

This less visited side of the river - known as Thonburi - has so much more to offer than just temples. Best of all, the range of Bangkok’s attractions and quiet riverside communities present much more of a local feeling than the fast-paced nature of Bangkok’s hectic city center. Klongsan Plaza is a great example of where you can discover Thonburi’s laidback atmosphere.

The cheap shuttle boat from Si Phraya Pier (adjacent to the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers) delivers you directly to the market’s riverside entrance, and the panoramic view looking back across the water towards the sprawling hotel complex is a perfect excuse to pack your camera for this day trip.

Stepping off the pier, it’s easy to explore the maze of alleys at Klongsan Plaza on foot. Stop off along the way for some tasty street food (like grilled pork skewers, spring rolls, barbecued squid or fresh fruit), or find a seat at one of the air-conditioned restaurants that serve everything from Thai dishes to sushi and sandwiches.

If you’re in the mood for some shopping, then expect to find all the regular Thai market goods such as bags, shoes, accessories, t-shirts, electronics and cosmetics. The market (i.e. all the stalls, vendors and shops) is owned by locals, which means you’ll be getting a much fairer price comparing to some of the capital’s more tourist-oriented markets like Chatuchak and Asiatique.

Transportation : Walk to the Si Phra ya Pier (On the left-side of hotel). Then take a cross-river boat to Klongsan Pier.

Opening hours: daily from 16.00 - 00.00 hr.
